Let the NHS know what you think about changes to the Cumberlege Intermediate Care Centre

Updated: Mar 28

The NHS is planning to change the way the Cumberlege Intermediate Care Centre (CICC) in Rochford works.

At the moment, Southend residents who have had a stroke, or who need some nursing and therapy support - for example after a chest infection - are admitted to CICC. This might be after spending some time in one of the main hospitals in Mid & South Essex.

The NHS wants to change the use of beds so that only people who have had a stroke, or only people who need that extra nursing and therapy support, are admitted to Rochford. Southend residents who do not meet these criteria would be transferred to Brentwood Community Hospital for a period of up to 6 weeks.

If you or a loved one have been admitted in the past to CICC, you can come to a public meeting on 15 February, 2024. It is really important that local people make their views known.

Time: 5.00 to 6.30pm

Where: Forum Library Elmer Ave, Southend-on-Sea SS1 1NS
