We want to hear about your experience of ‘corridor care’ at Southend Hospital. NHS England defines corridor care as “patients being cared for in inappropriate environments” due to “the pressure on our acute hospital bed base” and “unacceptable crowding in our EDs”.

Sophie Gallagher, a reporter at The i Paper, has written about their experience inside Southend Hospital’s Emergency Department after a day meeting staff and patients.

In a joint letter signed by Healthwatch England, there were calls for “the government to commit to transparency on the true extent of corridor care”.

At Healthwatch Southend, we are appreciative of the difficulties many staff at Southend Hospital staff find themselves in, but we too are concerned about patients being treated in the corridors.

If you, or someone you know, has been treated in a corridor at Southend Hospital and had a positive or negative experience, share your feedback with us today via our Have Your Say form.
